Sylvia Baker

Professional Experience

Sylvia Baker was principle saxophonist for the Spokane Symphony for 28 years, and played for the Civic Theatre Orchestra for over 30 musicals. She was principal saxophonist for the Spokane River Band and Riverfront Park Band for 20 years. Among other groups, she has performed as a member of QuadraSax, Saxophones Top To Bottom, the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, and the Spokane Falls Community Band.

With over 30 years experience teaching clarinet, saxophone, and chamber ensembles on the college level, Sylvia was listed in the Who's Who of America's Teachers (2002) and in the Who's Who in America (2003, 2004). She has taught on the faculty for Whitworth College (34 yrs.) and Gonzaga University (14 yrs), and has taught saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe and bassoon privately for over 45 years. She has adjudicated in Washintgon, Idaho, and Montana.
