Now in her twenty-sixth year of full-time teaching, Dr. DeAragon also enjoys reading historical fiction, mystery novels and Discover magazine. Her favorite author is Jane Austen. She took her first photographs before the age of ten, and has recently taken up watercolor and pastel painting. Her youthful interest in rocks has turned into an informal study of geology.

Dr. DeAragon has been elected to serve as Faculty Assembly President (1994-5), vice president (1993-4), on the Gonzaga Board of Regents (1995-8), and many other university and college committees. Chair of the History Dept. (2002-4) and director of the Women's Studies program (2005-7), she also served as the secretary-treasurer of the Northwest Conference on British Studies.
