Research
Professor Cleary's research area is the synthesis and characterization of nonlinear optical materials. Materials are prepared using traditional high temperature solid state chemistry techniques as well as low temperature solution phase methods. Students learn these methods of preparation in addition to learning the characterization methods. The characterization methods include thermal analysis, laser spectroscopic analysis, chemical analysis, and x-ray powder diffraction analysis.
