Birgitt Krause grew up in Cologne, Germany, where she received a degree as a translator for German, English and Spanish as well as an advanced degree in adult and adolescent education from the University of Cologne.
She has been teaching at Gonzaga University since 1990. Her main areas of interest are 20th century German literature, the Holocaust, and fairy-tales and their interpretation in depth psychology.
Birgitt and her husband Alan McFarland, a computer programming consultant, enjoy nature, music and art. Both are students and teachers of T'ai Chi Chuan.
