Darnelle Preston

Professional Experience

Ms. Preston has performed throughout the United States as soloist with the Utah, Nashville and Carmel Symphonies, Boston and Dartmouth’s Handel & Haydn Societies, the Lake Placid Sinfonietta and the Washington D.C. Masterworks Orchestra. Her solo appearances have included performances of Bach’s B Minor Mass and St. John Passion, Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Poulenc’s Gloria. Opera roles include the Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, the Cake Box Lady in Argento’s Postcard From Morocco and Lady Billows in Britten’s Albert Herring. Her musical theatre performances have included the role of Nellie in South Pacific, Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and Ruth in Pirates of Penzance. Ms. Preston has performed throughout southern France and recorded with the Robert Shaw Choeur d’Atlanta.

Locally, Ms. Preston has performed with the Spokane Symphony, the Northwest Bach Festival, the Sandpoint Festival, Allegro – Baroque & Beyond, the Spokane Area Children’s Chorus, the Whitworth Women’s Composers Series, Spokane Opera, the Gonzaga University Chorale and Zephyr. She is currently a member of the voice faculty at Gonzaga University, Washington State University and the Associate Artistic Director for the Spokane Area Children’s Chorus.
