Captain Kenny Scruggs was born in Greenwood, South Carolina and attended high school in Minnesota. After nine years of enlisted service as a supply specialist, he attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia and received a commission in the Quartermaster Corps in January of 1995.
After attending the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course at Fort Lee, Virginia, Captain Scruggs was assigned as a supply platoon leader in the 553rd Corps Support Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas. Shortly after arriving at Fort Hood, he deployed with his unit to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for six months in support of "Operation Sea Signal", providing relief to Cuban and Haitian migrants. After his return to Fort Hood, Texas and the 553rd Corps Support Battalion, he served as platoon leader, company executive officer, and battalion assistant operations officer.
CPT Scruggs then entered the Degree Completion Program and graduated from Saint Leo University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in July of 1999. After completing the Advance Course at Fort Lee, Virginia, CPT Scruggs commanded the 65th Ordnance Company at Camp Page, Chunchon, Korea.
CPT Scruggs is currently assigned to Gonzaga University ROTC in Spokane, Washington as an Assistant Professor of Military Science. He is the battalion supply officer and teaches the freshman class basic Army leadership skills.
CPT Scruggs' military education includes the Combined Arms Services and Staff School, the Combined Logistics Course, Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Joint Deployment Officer's Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, and the Primary Leadership Development Course.
CPT Scruggs is married to the former Rhonda Boyd of Vermilion, Ohio, who is a U.S. Government employee currently working for the U.S. Border Patrol. They have two children, Sean and Brianna.
